Weekend Sked

O.N.E. Naturales, a proudly made Pinoy bodycare brand, goes on sale this July 31.  O.N.E. stands for Organic, Natural, and Eco-friendly; and they stand true to these qualities with products that close to nature and packaged in recyclable cartons and tins.

My favorite from the lot are their massage bars that are perfect for home use.

Prices range from P199 to P629, but starting from July 31, ALL O.N.E. Naturales products will go on sale—everything for P199!  Check out their product offerings by going to their facebook fan page.  O.N.E. Naturales is available at all SM Department Stores (Beauty Section) and Watsons.

An exclusive TRUNK SHOW featuring fashion designer JOHN PARAS and bags and accessories designer RESHMA CHULANI for their Holiday 2011 collection is set tomorrow at the Rockwell Leisure Club function room 1. Doors open at 11a.m.

See you there :D

Prepping up for New Yorker

New Yorker, the store, that is :) The shop known for its vintage and vintage-inspired pieces, is almost done with their renovation.  And with this, a sale of their past creations that you might just need for an event that you'll soon be needing:

All Dressed Up

I wasn't able to take photos of the actual exhibit of Miadore x FADAL x Seven Barreto, but I was able to mingle a bit that night:

Artistic Fusion

Accessories designer Yekky Balingit of Miadore was featured recently in our pages, but it wasn’t just us who took notice of this crafty artist. Together with the designers of the Fashion Designers Alliance Manila (FaDAL) and photographer Seven Barretto, he recently held a photo-exhibit-slash-launch, at 7th High in Bonifacio High Street.

The exhibit featured Balingit’s exquisite neckpieces as well as FaDAL clothes in dramatic photographs. Shot on gray background, the models’ bodies and faces were covered in brownish black eyeshadow to further highlight both the clothes and the accessories. From crystallized neckpieces to edgy shoulder caps, even tassel danglers, bejeweled cuffs, and brooches for men, Balingit’s creations are amazing.

Cherry Veric’s sweetheart neckline gives a rockstar vibe with crystal shoulder accents.

Extra long danglers and a sparkling cuff is all you need to spice up Dave Ocampo creations.

An encrusted brooch is a refreshing accent to Levenson Rodiguez’s suit.

Watch for more of FaDAL’s projects as founder Levenson Rodriguez shares that “FaDAL will help in promoting the best of Filipino artists to showcase their sheer talent and utter creativity that would surely highlight the Philippine fashion scene.”

Booster Drinks

My husband and I love Smart C+.  He discovered it a few months back, way before Smart C+ was officially introduced in the market with personalities such as Anton del Rosario, RJ Ledesma, Rissa Mananquil and Liz Uy.

I just received a link to their latest video campaign yesterday:

Nowadays, we're not compartmentalized into just one role.  We're all more than just a son/daughter, parent, employee/businessman, sports enthusiast, and more!  I think this campaign is great in encouraging everyone to be multi-faceted and to excel in their chosen fields.  Don't you agree?

Monochrome Divine

Shiseido’s “sister” debuted last month, with the young and hip makeup line from Japan celebrating its grand launch at Opus bar in Resorts World. Majolica Majorca, as mysteriously fun as the name implies, transformed the venue into a magical world full of romance and sparkle.

The host, Bianca Valerio, along with Shiseido’s and Luxasia’s key representatives, introduced Majolica Majorca’s muses: Bea Lozano, Steph Borlongan, and Angeline Gonzales, who walked the runway to show off the latest looks from the very limited “Fake Sleeping” collection.

This got the guests excited to try the products, which were displayed all around the venue. Placed in cocktail and wine glasses filled with pearls, one just can’t resist trying on a few for the night. Our picks? The Aurora-colored precise eyeliner and the sweet-scented fragrance (Marjoromantica) are a must-try.

Quick Beauty Fixes Part 2

I gained quite a few pounds from my UK trip :( What luck that Facial Care Centre asked me to try out their new facial slimming service :D FCC's PR lady NJ Torres, with the resident doctor, welcomed me with a debriefing and a short interview:
IMG_8411

And here's THE purple machine that will be doing all the "work"
IMG_8413

Facial Care introduces its newest breakthrough service: UltraFace Facial Contour. Our face is the first thing people notice, and for those whose faces gain first and lose fats the last, this non-invasive facial treatment might just be the service for you.

This technology combines both ultrasound and radio frequency to reduce facial fat and contour the face. The high frequency ultrasound wave destroys fat cells, while the radio frequency energy contracts the collagen fibers that contour and tighten the skin. Both steps release tolerable heat, as this serves as a medium to dissolve fat cells and tighten the skin, among others.

Designed for those with chubby cheeks and double chin, it is recommended to have the 30-to 45-minute treatment in intervals of 10 to 14 days. Although a visit comprised of four to 12 sessions is required, visible results can be seen right after the first treatment as seen in the photo below of my first and only treatment:
IMG_8419

I can't believe I'm posting my photo :o Here's half of my face done.  Notice that the left side is less "plump" as compared to the other one.  I am amazed at the results, and would definitely recommend it.  Just remember that nothing is permanent, so keep in mind to maintain your "desired" look by having a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Quick Beauty Fixes part 1

Coming back from an overseas trip always messes us up our scalp goes haywire due to weather changes, while our body gains unwanted fat and pounds. The price one has to pay when traveling and on vacation, it doesn’t mean we just let these problems escalate. Two establishments that we always run to, in situations like these, are Kerastase and Facial Care.

For this post, let me talk about my experience with Kerastase at the L'Oreal Academie in Ortigas District:
IMG_8335

While waiting for my turn, I was escorted to this cozy waiting lounge:

Delicious snackbites from Bizu:

Afterwhich, I was brought to the actual classroom. I love how clean, crisp and futuristic the venue was:
IMG_8339

IMG_8340

IMG_8341

Upon inspection by the hair technicians, my hair was found to have become very brittle due to the harsh UV rays and my scalp has become dry because of the cool climate. They offered me its latest treatment, the Chronologiste.
IMG_8348

Inspired by the revitalizing properties of caviar, Chronologiste has pearls that mimic the concentration and protection of caviar.
IMG_8344

The pearls are crushed and combined with the nourishing cream a mere few seconds before application.
IMG_8345

IMG_8347

This is to ensure that only the freshest ingredients are applied on your precious locks and scalp. A foil shower cap is then placed on your head: the foil serves as a catalyst that produces heat to activate the properties of the Chronologiste, resulting in replenished hair fiber and a hydrated scalp.

I was lead to their "blowdrying section"

Going Gaga

It has been three years since Kermit Tesoro first introduced his heel-less shoes in stylebible.ph. This feature garnered him a spot on the cover of Meg magazine in October, 2009, which gave him the confidence and inspiration to present his Holiday 2010 collection. He showcased his nude, ribbed, heel-less shoes and skull heels, which both received great reviews from the fashion denizens.

But it wasn’t just the stylish locals that took notice of Tesoro’s works. Nicola Formichetti, the creative director of Thierry Mugler and Lady Gaga’s personal fashion director, and her team, got in touch with him: “The styling team primarily asked for a pair of skull heels and escalated by asking me to send my pieces from my Holiday 2010 collection. They saw my collection online, and they contacted if I’m the real Kermit Tesoro as the designer of the skull heels.”

“The second time, they asked me to send pieces for the MTV video music awards, but the package got held up by the customs,” adds Tesoro.  Although both attempts were unsuccessful, Tesoro didn’t lose hope as he sent another pair of shoes and a suit to the styling team: “It was mainly for the album cover shoot but I’m utterly clueless what happened.”

Then, he chanced upon the Lady Gaga x Gilt Groupe charity sale, which was a three-day online event curated by Formichetti. This was launched in celebration of the release of Lady Gaga’s latest album, “Born This Way.” Gilt members were given a chance to buy items that are of Lady Gaga’s styles (among others), which included Tesoro’s heel-less pair. “Upon seeing the campaign, at first I was uncertain, but when I checked all the details of the pair I sent, I was quite stoic and really happy that the pair really made it to their campaign.”

Surely, this isn’t the last of the collaboration.

Future Weaving

I've never felt Pinoy-Pride being celebrated as much as the past month.  With so many events revolving on encouraging proudly-made Pinoy crafts, let me start with this design competition hosted by the Fashion & Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

I was invited to an intimate lunch at Mandarin Oriental Hotel with media friends and FDCP where this renowned fashion group announced this year's theme for their yearly Philippine Fashion Design Competition (PFDC)—"Weaving the Future: A Social Design Competition."

Rajo Laurel acts as the host:

With JC Buendia, the FDCP President, opening the launch with a short speech:
IMG_8570

He shared that at the time when P-Noy was being inaugurated, a lot of designers were busy creating outfits for the attendees.  All of them shared one big problem: we have a shortage on materials and fabrics that are of Philippine origin.  Hence, the Philippine theme was born.  Buendia shares: "This competition aims to provide sustainable livelihood for regional communities through design and development of products made from indigenous weaves, materials and crafts.  We wish to raise awareness on the various rich indigenous materials that the Philippines can offer, placing the country on the fashion map all over the world."

A representative from Rags2Riches (R2R) was also present.  Known for helping small communities in becoming independent and self-sustaining, she proudly shows off the giveaways that Smart Communications commissioned them to produce for their holiday giveaway.  This is truly inspiring, and I do hope that FDCP's competition shall boost sales for both the designer and those that produce the indigenous materials.

After the talks, the FDCP members showed off their works made of our very own organic materials.  Here are some of my favorites:
