Bring It On

Never has school spirit been so alive and stylish, I should say. Witty statement shirts and cool graphic tees have invaded the campuses. One such clothing line caught my eye—the Jersey Dress. As basic as the name, they’re dresses inspired from basketball jerseys that are tailored fit for ladies. Yes, ladies, they custom make these dresses just for you.

This ingenious project came about when UAAP courtside reporter Sharon Yu wanted to wear a jersey dress to her school’s pep rally and asked schoolmate Patrick Giron to make one for her. Giron is known for making jerseys, so it was a cinch to make a feminine version for Yu. It was an obvious hit as people immediately placed orders. This lead to a third partner, Rachel Guerrero, who handled the sales and put up an online shop via multiply (among others) for interested customers.

Barely two years old, it has already been featured in shows such as Unang Hirit in GMA 7, One Morning Show in RPN 9, Hardball in Studio 23, and Fashionistas by Heart in Qtv. Personalities have also placed orders, with Isabelle Daza’s as one of those who quickly became fans of the Jersey Dress.

Two hundred happy ladies have been seen wearing these cool jersey dresses—all custom fit as each is only made once you’ve submitted your order. Visit their site (http://jerseydress.multiply.com) to check out the size chart. You can even request for minor changes, and even adjust the length of the dress, if you want. As for the material, the stretchable Spundy fabric is used, which is quite cool on the body.

They offer two playful designs: the basic and the off-shoulder dress. No two are alike, as you get to choose the color combination, number, and team name for your special jersey. Your school icon is imprinted on the dress, too! All for an affordable price of P550 for the basic, and P600 for the off-shoulder design. Even better news, get discounts for every three or more dresses. So, get your friends to place orders and show up at the court in these cute jerseys. See you at the games ;)

Clean and Green

Even without the swine flu scare, one should always be extra careful when it comes to places (and items) that are prone to bacteria and germ growth. It seems washing your hands with soap and water is not enough. Hospitals highly recommend 70% solution of alcohol to clean your hands and kill bacteria.

But what to do when you’re in an area full that’s prone to make you sweat like at the gym doing your workouts, yoga or pilates? As you all know, sweat attracts dirt, which brings with it bacteria. Young entrepreneur Sydney C. Go saw the need fill in this demand, and put up SevĂ  Service just for this goal: “Ever since I can remember, during trips abroad with my family, I see myself drawn to cleaning agents. Perhaps, it has something to do with me being OC (Obsessive-Compulsive). I’ve always wanted to have a clean and green lifestyle, and figured it had to start with me.”

SevĂ  Service is a pretty young company, which started late 2008 with its star product, the Mat and Towel Refresher. It was initially used on mats, towels, and clothing before, during and after workouts or any activity that involves heavy sweating. But Go realized that there’s so much more you can do with her star product: “It’s a multi-tasking lifestyle product. It’s not just for people who do a certain sport, or exercise. It’s for a lifestyle you have chosen—so it blends with your needs, making life so much cleaner. It is also something you choose to adapt. From men to women, to children, SevĂ  understands your needs and is constantly coming up with products to fit varied lifestyles.”

With the overwhelming response of the public to Go’s Mat and Towel Refresher, she was inspired to come up with another product: the SevĂ  Athletic Wear Wash that was just launched earlier this week. It’s perfect for washing your sports gear as it banishes odor, eliminates stains and is color-safe, too! The Spring Bouquet scent is an added plus; and can be used for both hand and machine washes that makes this anti-bacterial wash a must-have for every household.

Oh, and did we mention that both products are environment-friendly and non-toxic? SevĂ  uses plant-derived ingredients to make sure its safe on skin, even for babies!

SevĂ  Mat and Towel Refresher, P350

To use: Just spray on the area you want, and leave it to air dry after each washing. You may spray on mats and towels before and after each use. For clothing: spray before you wear your clothes, before you do your daily exercise. You can also use it to spray on your body as an energizing booster (has a zesty lemon scent) when needed.

SevĂ  Atheltic Wear Wash, 300ml pouch for P 195; and 600ml pouch for P 295

To use: HAND WASH: Mix 10ml SEVA Athletic Wear Wash with 30ml water. Wash soiled garments. Let it sit for a time, then rinse. Lay garment flat away from direct sunlight. MACHINE WASH: Mix 30ml SEVA Athletic Wear Wash with 60ml water. Combine garments with other load. Rinse. Lay garment flat away from direct sunlight.

Tip: Best to keep the athletic wear in a mesh bag to prevent pilling (rubbing of fabric with other fabric).

* SevĂ  Mat and Towel Refresher is available at Aura Athletica in Power Plant Mall, Certified Calm at Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Pulse Yoga Studio Greenhills and Makati, Sundar Bikram Yoga in Connecticut. SevĂ  Athletic Wear Wash is available at Aura Athletica and Moana in Power Plant Mall.

Pseudo Spy Cam

One of my earlier posts included this wireless IP camera that we bought from CDR-King for P5800. The price might be cheaper now...

We bought it so that hubby can view us even if he's in the office. Sometimes, he would even call me
so I can carry little J and bring him closer to the camera so he can get a better look :)

This is how it looks like from the computer. We can also record whenever we're both out of the house. We were very careful not to make the nanny feel like we're very strict, but the purpose of this camera really is to spy on her hehe... I told our nanny that we wanted one, so that daddy gets to see him even if he's at the office. She even gamely shows off little J when hubby calls :) It never hurts to be safe :D

* Do take note that you have to have our own IP address to be able to have access outside the house. But if you're viewing from within, you'll be able to do so even without an IP address. Call your ISP to inquire :)

Gadget Upgrade

HP launched their limited edition Vivienne Tam laptops earlier this year...

Like any lady who loves to dress up, I swooned and fell in love with it. But, like any practical woman,
I had to resist it. I recently "inherited" my brother's Powerbook, and decided to spruce it up instead.

What do you think? :) Thanks to Gmask, I got this quirky wrap for P2,500.

Their special collection of Belle de Jour wraps for mobile phones are also nice. Too bad they don't have it for laptops. Rates start at P795, and they also offer Swarovski crystals, too! Be sure to have a lot of time in your hands while you wait for your gadget to be wrapped. They're located in the malls, so the time will just pass by quickly as you do some "window" shopping :)

Gmask Beauty Wraps are located at SM Mall of Asia, Glorietta, Alabang Town Center, Robinsons Galleria, Greenbelt, SM City North EDSA, Robinsons Place Manila, Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Gateway Mall, Greenhills V-Mall and Eastwood City Walk. Outside Manila: Limketkai Mall.

Are You Poppy?

I make it a point to buy magazines whenever I go abroad. This time, since I'm nursing little J... I didn't go with my mom to HK last month, but asked her to buy me my usual load of foreign fashion magazines :)

Look what I found in ELLE Japanese?

This new collection got me giddy and excited. Hint: the brand is printed on this page.

Just when Coach "left" Manila, it comes out with these cute bags... grrr...

If Louis Vuitton has their Murakami collection series, Coach has Poppy-Chan collection. Obviously, this line is targeted for the Japanese, most probably because Japanese ladies have received the brand so well there. Check out this video:

Don't you agree with me that the characters remind me of Disney's Powerpuff girls with a bit of '60s space age (white boots and mod dresses)? :D

To know more about the latest collection of Coach, visit their site and you'll surely have fun browsing the goods. Their mouse pointer even has cute hearts that follow you around the screen hihi... Too bad I found out about this collection after my mom's trip to HK, or I would have been TEMPTED to asked her to buy me a headband, tiara (but where would I wear it? :D) or a necklace/bracelet/ring.

Daphne Headband, $128 and Tiara Headband, $148

The Creative Director of Coach, Reed Krakoff, shared, "Poppy offers a different attitude that is younger in spirit. It's playful, with more prints, interesting fabrics and more experimentation. These are countered with a more classic shape or a more traditional construction. The line is cohesive but has a diverse range of items, from a tote covered in a profusion of red sequins to 'Gossip Girl'-worthy tiaras to pochettes covered in strands of gold beads."

Hmmm... looks like Coach has caught on the "Gossip Girl" bug, too! Some of the bags kinda reminds me of Marc by Marc Jacobs from seasons past with the locking mechanisms, patent leather and the big leather tag (for Marc, it was metal hardware). But you know me and happy brights (love them!), and this collection is definitely worth browsing—check them out yourself.

Their ballet flats have sequins on the toe cap—very disco preppy!

I'm in love with their wedges :o

One more site to visit is the Poppy Town. It's in Japanese though, but the animation, map, and interface (you'll know what I'm talking about when you get there) are just sooooo cute! Enjoy ;P

From Russia, with Love...

Can you guess where I went just by looking at this photo?

I was pleasantly surprised to see these seats outside the restroom of SM Megamall (near the Atrium). Cool, huh? :)

Now why was I in Megamall? I had to go buy a few more clothes for baby J (gotta prepare for his growth spurts), and visit my friend KZ's newly-opened shop, Kira Plastinina.

Everyone in the fashion industry is quite familiar with this Russian teenager who successfully launched her very own clothing line at the tender age of 14 back in 2006. Her dad, Sergei, who’s only 40 years old, supported his daughter’s dream of turning her design sketches into actual clothes. Not everyone is as lucky as her to have a dad for a tycoon, but that’s only the first step. Her passion, talent and entrepreneurial skills are what made her brand a hit among the young and stylish. Now 17 years old, Plastinina juggles work and studies like an old pro. The only designer of the brand, she is able to come up with regular pieces every two weeks that are delivered to the stores. Amazing, isn’t it?

Since 2006, “Kira Plastinina Style” has a whopping number of 73 owned stores and 20 franchises in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. More than that, this Russian heiress has also achieved a lot of accomplishments within the span of less than three years. These include her being awarded as the “Glamour Woman of the Year,” “Designer of the Year,” and “Breakthrough of the Year.” Her designs were also showcased at the Moscow, Rome and Milan Fashion Weeks, with international celebrities like Paris Hilton visiting her store. She even designed the holiday uniform for the students of Moscow Cadet Corps by the Russian Ministry of Defence. Such a great resume!

The good news? Stylish Pinays can now avail of these stylish goods at SM Megamall, and we’re mighty proud that our country is the first in Asia to franchise this global style brand. The store opening was held earlier this month, with close friends and members of the press getting first dibs on the new arrivals. Again, I wasn't able to attend since I was due any moment at that time. So, I paid KZ and her shop a visit instead and this is what I found...

I was greeted with a sea of pinks and blacks. I felt like a giddy schoolgirl inside, as my fave color dominated the store :) I went straight to their counter to wait for KZ (she was in her office at the back), and saw this cute perfume.

Smelled a bit like the beach, with hints of coconut. The scent didn't surprise me, as Kira loves to windsurf. I was kinda overwhelmed with all the fabulous finds, and asked KZ and her sales staff to recommend to me their top picks and best sellers:

Striped hoodies in velour fabric—great for chilly days.

These skirts are just toooo cute!

This almost-sheer hoodie tee makes for great layering with you fave shirt.

These metallic skinnies with zippered detail is for the rockin' gals.

Ahhh... dresses have always been close to my heart. Love the pleated details...

Pretty "fantasy" skirts :P

There are so many more pieces that I want to take photos of. You just have to check out the store yourself—2nd floor of Building B (where Linea Italia is). That's Kira Plastinina on the left. And see the dress on the right? It's not a dress, actually. When you look closer, there are two holes at the hem for your legs. It looks like a pair of jodhpurs/onesies/jumpers, but not.
Of course, I just had to have one of these. It also comes with hidden side pockets—I love it! And they're great for my post-preggy body, too! ;)

*Warning: Kira Plastinina's clothes are targeted for tweens and above, so the sizing is from XXXS to M/L. Don't feel bad when you find extremely small sizes, and if you fit into a M or a L, ok? You're not alone hehe... :D
