WPO Postponed

I had a great time, despite the rainy weather, last Saturday. Watched the World Pyrolympics Show with my family and parents at The Fort grounds.

Unfortunately, the succeeding shows have been postponed. I got an e-mail from the people behind the event (Eventscape):

Dear Friends,

The Executive Committee of the World Pyro Olympics (WPO) 09 announces the RESCHEDULING of the WPO originally set on November 28, December 5, 12 and 19, at theBonifacio Global City to a later date early next year.

The incessant rains and flooding during the past months have rendered the firing area almost unfit for pyrotechnics launchings which have certain international standards to observe. The participating countries have thus agreed to postpone the event

With that at hand, we would like to apologize to you, our valued partner for this inconvenience. Please advise us should you want to schedule a meeting to further discuss this matter.

I will definitely keep you posted with WPO. Don't even think twice about watching (next year), it's really worth it. Two country representatives per night, with 30 minutes of non-stop fireworks display per country. Sulit! :)

NEW VENUE for the World Pyro Olympics 2009. The World Pyro Olympics 2009 will be held at the Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines. This year features a NEW SHOW FORMAT to be used by competing countries. Each pyromusical composition will run for 18 minutes and have the added feature of low-level effects, which were not utilized in past World Pyro Olympics, as we were shooting from barges on water. Synchronized musical scores will be played through sound systems on the event site. So it’s a definite to come at the event site to fully experience the Pyro Musical

ADDITIONAL INFO: This will be located at The Fort Open Grounds behind High Street, near MC Home Depot. VIP comes with a free dinner from VIA MARE and all VIPs have sure seats. VIP and SVA are in front of the GVA (General Viewing Area). There will also be enough food booths and seats at the SVA although you cannot reserve seats there -- first come first served. :)

Gates open at 3pm, but fireworks start around 630pm.
