Chain Straps Get a New Look

Chain-strapped bags have stood the test of time, thanks to Coco Channel. From its inception in 1955, it has mutated into different styles. Its trademark chain strap has been adapted by other designers as well, which has been successfully incorporated into their own bag models.

One such younger brand is DKNY, who worked with a combination of chain and leather strap for a modern look. Not only is it more hip and contemporary, the mid-leather strap protects your shoulders from getting red marks caused by the chains. This happens a lot when you carry a lot in your bag.

So take your pick from DKNY’s fall 2010 accessories collections: men’s satchels with multi-pockets and bold hardware, and clutch bags made of croco, French grain leather bags and fabrics. All serve as double duty bags that can serve as clutch/shoulder bags, and satchel/sling bags.

The classic dark brown urban fusion satchel comes with zipper pockets for easy storage.

This large clutch is roomy enough to fit in all your essentials. We love the uber-shiny gold hardware, too!

A red leather clutch bag is all you need to paint the town red.

Getting Cozy

Back in 2003, DKNY released the Cozy—a multi-way top that has created quite a cult following. With more than 12 ways to wear them, DKNY has discovered more new options. And with these, the fashion house recently released the DKNY Cozy iPhone application, in partnership with IMI Software Inc. It’s a step-by-step visual direction on how to wear this quintessential wrap.
“We wanted to give the personal stylist experience to clients using technology that is available today. Not only is it more environmentally friendly and cost-effective, the Cozy application is always accessible and much more comprehensible than a printed guide,” says EVP of Global Marketing and Communication, Patti Cohen.

Although DKNY has already provided an online tutorial, the marriage of the iPhone and the Cozy is great for women on the go. “The Cozy application represents very forward thinking at DKNY. The hi-definition and well-crafted instructional content represents a cost effective way to deliver this message directly into the hands of consumers and staff. I expect that many other brands are going to follow suit on DKNY’s lead,” states Scott Michaels, vice president of the ATIMI Software, Inc.

For 2010, why don’t you streamline your wardrobe with the Cozy? You’ll definitely get a lot of mileage for this wrap. Plus, the iPhone application makes it an easier purchase to make, don’t you agree?
*DKNY is located at Greenbelt 5, Rockwell, and Rustan’s Makati.
