Pearls Plus

Our South Sea pearls go beyond the classic with new additions to the expanding collections of Jewelmer, launched last month at the Salon de Ning in Manila Peninsula. The pearl joaillerie introduced its latest collections with a high tea event aptly called Fête de la Femme (Celebrating the Woman). “We wanted to celebrate women and the relationships in their lives,” says Jewelmer marketing manager Mia Macapagal. “Each memory we create with our loved ones is like a precious jewel that adds color and character to our lives.”

The Recordi Presiozi (Precious Memories) and Tutti Frutti collections are the focal points of this intimate party. Pearls are complemented with precious and colored semi-precious stones such as sapphires, rhodolite, gold dust, and garnets to name a few. “Pearls are a classic choice,” says Macapagal. “You wear it with anything. It’s really part of your life, like your girl friend: it’s a witness for special moments and an unwavering companion for the everyday. The addition of colored stones gives the pieces a nice sparkle and femininity that makes it infinitely more versatile and contemporary.”

We must admit, these colorful gems add a playful note to the classic pearl, with colorful sparkles that highlight the Queen of all Gems, our golden Palawan South Sea pearl.

Holiday Shine and more...

I have to thank Jewelmer for introducing me to the wonderful world of pearls—golden pearls to be exact. Owning pieces from this Philippine South Sea pearl jeweler has become a part of my wish list. And now, I want them even more, after seeing the 2011 collections, which was showcased at an exclusive event recently.

Jewelmer presented three collections, each having a unique inspiration that served as the foundation for each set. The “Buona Annata” pays tribute to the fine art of winemaking, with each piece created to mimic that of freshly picked grapes. Cascading golden pearls in different sizes, attached to a diamond-encrusted “vine,” is the predominant design for this group.

The “Rosone” revolves around ethereal flowers that are seen on most stained glass windows of cathedrals. These intricately lace-shaped rings, earrings, and pendants are a perfect match for those who love history, art, and religion.

But what got everyone really excited were the cocktail rings from the “Lautitia” collection. Jewelmer has always presented expertly handcrafted earrings and necklaces, but we couldn’t be more elated with this latest addition. Host Bianca Valerio adds, “I personally love the Lautitia collection of cocktail rings, because it has made Jewelmer’s designs more mainstream, young, and playful, while still being opulent and sophisticated.”

A favorite of most attendees was the floral cocktail ring with five petals filled with colored stones, and one petal that has diamonds and slightly lifted higher than the other five petals—surely a ring that will surely make people take notice.  Here's Liza Ilarde of thefashpack clearly enjoying the baubles :) They're so fun and pretty :D

The Pearl Goes to Pampanga

Over the past year, we have come to love pearls—the golden champagne ones, to be exact. Jewelmer’s quest to educate people on a global scale on South Sea pearls has made me appreciate these nacred jewels that our country is quite known for.

Only a handful know of Jewelmer’s pearl farm in Palawan, which “is bringing the brand experience to a wider audience by opening more showrooms in the Philippines,” shares retail manager Catrina Paulino. Its latest branch at the Marquee Mall in Pampanga also showcased a pearl exhibit, which depicts the life of the golden South Sea pearls from its inception until they have been crafted into jewelry pieces. “We hope to bring this display to hotels and other premier shopping destinations this year,” adds Paulino. And while that’s still being scheduled, you can view their re-launched website for more information on our country’s finest pearls.

Hosted by endorsers Suzi Entrata-Abrera and Atty. Gaby Concepcion, the event treated guests to an afternoon of pearl appreciation, with Jewelmer models Girlie Benitez, Bianca Valerio, Melissa Frye and Isabel Roces dressed in citrus-colored gowns by Rhett Eala and wearing Jewelmer pieces.

The arrival of Piolo Pascual was a welcome surprise. The dashing actor came in a blushing pink polo with a solo golden pearl pendant as his chosen accent. “It’s an honor, it gives me so much pride to be representing not just the pearl but the Jewelmer family. It brings me so much joy to be a Filipino wearing our nations pride and representing our country and the pearl both here and abroad,” said Pascual.

Palawan's Best

I was invited earlier last month to a luncheon at Terrace on the 5th hosted by Jewelmer.

Don't you just love our table setting? Golden pearls from Palawan were placed in these tiny bowls :)

Through Jewelmer, I've come to realize how amazing pearls are. Pearls, like diamonds, are a girl’s best friend. Whether you want to keep it simple with a single strand or you’re going for extravagance by piling them on, wearing pearls adds a classic and elegant vibe to your ensemble of choice.

A great place to go to for pearl-shopping would be Jewelmer, a brand that proudly boasts of producing one of the best Palawan pearls. For this holiday season, gift-giving is made easier with the Noël pendant (a great way to start wearing pearls, which is perfect for newbies) and gift certificates with denominations of P5,000 and P10,000.

Ladies who are fans of the design house would love to know that they have released their Premier 2010 collection: The Rivage Perle (Pearl Shores), Riviere des Perles (River of Pearls) and Harlequin necklaces. Overflowing with lustrous golden Palawan South Sea pearls and set with sparkling diamond and 18-karat yellow gold, the Premier collection shows off the exceptional craftsmanship of their mastercraftsman Paul Gächter.
