Dip Your Hands, or should I say, Nails? :)
WPO Postponed
Dear Friends,
The Executive Committee of the World Pyro Olympics (WPO) 09 announces the RESCHEDULING of the WPO originally set on November 28, December 5, 12 and 19, at theBonifacio Global City to a later date early next year.
The incessant rains and flooding during the past months have rendered the firing area almost unfit for pyrotechnics launchings which have certain international standards to observe. The participating countries have thus agreed to postpone the event
With that at hand, we would like to apologize to you, our valued partner for this inconvenience. Please advise us should you want to schedule a meeting to further discuss this matter.
Thank you...
I will definitely keep you posted with WPO. Don't even think twice about watching (next year), it's really worth it. Two country representatives per night, with 30 minutes of non-stop fireworks display per country. Sulit! :)

Werk It!
Pair them with a casual tee and denims, or with your favorite cocktails dress. These versatile investment pieces will surely make you a stand out. They’re quite a no-brainer to put on, too! Just keep everything simple, and let your necklace do the work. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about being seen wearing the same neckpiece. You want your friends to see them more often; showing them the multitude of outfits you can wear them with.
And where can you get these fabulous neckpieces? I'm sharing here my find: New Yorker PVR, a shop that makes one-of-a-kind vintage and vintage-inspired necklaces. Exquisitely handcrafted, these babies are worth every peso. Read on and be amazed with my discovery:
Style Kit: When did you start making neckpieces?
NY: Actually we started off with embellished pieces such as belts, jackets, cocktail dresses and gowns inspired by Russian renaissance meets Marrakesh back in 2007. From there we ventured out into more versatile pieces such as bags, cuffs and now necklaces.
SK: Who was your inspiration?
NY: We were not inspired by just one person but rather by a period in time when dressing up meant putting on special things.
SK: How long does it take to make one? Is one person assigned to make one specific designs or necklace?
NY: Each necklace is handmade by only one person. This is to ensure that each component of the necklace is ALMOST identical looking. Each necklace on the average would take about two-three weeks to make.
SK: How many necklaces of the same design do you make?
NY: Our necklaces are one of a kind because of the limited amount of materials. It is very hard to reproduce a necklace.
SK: What materials do you use?
NY: Vintage cabochons— As we have always said we have a closet full of vintage materials from my grandmother’s treasure trove way back in 1960s. We also use rhinestones, crystals, beads are the materials used to make the necklaces.
*New Yorker PVR is located at 1004 Arnaiz Avenue, Makati. Telephone number: 844-7753. Call for appointments if you wish to have a custom-made piece done. Open from Tuesday to Saturday. 10 a.m. — 6 p.m.
