Bid and Help

Went to Greenbelt 4 last Thursday for Greenbelt 4's launch of their new collections. Along with the usual showcase of the stores' new items, a bidding was part of the program with the proceeds going to Children's Hour.

Food was provided by Via Mare; with their famous puto-bumbong and bibingka ;) yummy!

PR was by Visions and Expressions. Ginggay Joven-de la Merced of V&E came in this fierce number. Love the dress, dear :)

Models walked the Greenbelt 4 strip. Below: Louis Vuitton—love the mix of colors and black lace.

I want some Jimmy Choo's! Can't wait to go to HK for H&M, but I doubt they'll have any left :(

Ferragamo's sleek and classic look. Liking the booties.

Burberry is famous for their trench coats.

Grace Tagle is holding a new Gucci doctor's bag. The material is water-proof, I think.

Marc Jacobs—love the booties, too!

And the auction started with two business-class tickets to Singapore with 2-nights stay,
and an invite to the Louis Vuitton store opening. Starting bid was P80,000.
Divine Lee won them for P90k!
Oh, can I just say I love Divine's outfit and her fabulous booties? :D
What's up with me and shoes lately? :o

Next up was these three bags from Tod's (the smallest), Marc Jacobs (clutch),
and Michael Kors (the big tote). Valued at about P120,000, the starting bid was P40,000.

This lady won it for either P50,000 or P45,000! My friends and I
were contemplating on bidding on this set, and sharing the loot...

Host for the night (and model) Bianca Valero won the Rolex Oyster Perpetual for men.
Valued at P400,000, she won it for P275k! She called her dad and asked if he was interested,
and he was—now, why didn't I think of that? :)

More items were up for bid, but I wasn't able to take photos. Spent the rest of the night chatting with friends :D
Bumped into good friend Juddha Paolo. He got married recently; we share the same wedding day.

Hung out with my schoolmates. Stylist Sidney Yap, Shar,
model Alex Escat (she's did not go to my school, obviously), and Pond's Jacq Yuengtian.
What I wore: Zara oversized polo with a fringe necklace of my own design.
Color coordinated much, aren't we? :)
Happy weekend, everyone!

Dip Your Hands, or should I say, Nails? :)

How I wish I have pretty, long nails :( Will try my best to grow them so I can use Orly's Once Upon A Time collection—available only until January 31, 2010.

For this collection, each bottle comes with a cute little charm.
The polishes are named after famous characters/items from our favorite fairy tales.

The photo I took does not give these polishes justice, so here's a file photo I got online :)
It's a great mix of matte and sparkling shades, and in neutral
and blue-toned brights just in time for the holidays.
From left to right: Happily Ever After (magenta shimmer), Pixie Dust (icy blue shimmer), Enchanted Forest (deep green creme), Mirror Mirror (slate grey creme), Poisoned Apple (bright candy apple red creme), Prince Charming (brownish grey creme). I can't wait to try the first two. How about you? :)

Priced at P349.50, Orly is available at all PCX outlets in Rockwell, Ermita and ATC; First Aid (Greenbelt 3), Landmark, TriNoma; Caswell-Massey; Jesi Mendez Salons in New World, Ermita, Park Sqaure I and Tutuban; Chocolate in TriNoma; Nail Tropics in Serendra and Eastwood; and Marionnaud (SM MOA)

WPO Postponed

I had a great time, despite the rainy weather, last Saturday. Watched the World Pyrolympics Show with my family and parents at The Fort grounds.

Unfortunately, the succeeding shows have been postponed. I got an e-mail from the people behind the event (Eventscape):

Dear Friends,

The Executive Committee of the World Pyro Olympics (WPO) 09 announces the RESCHEDULING of the WPO originally set on November 28, December 5, 12 and 19, at theBonifacio Global City to a later date early next year.

The incessant rains and flooding during the past months have rendered the firing area almost unfit for pyrotechnics launchings which have certain international standards to observe. The participating countries have thus agreed to postpone the event

With that at hand, we would like to apologize to you, our valued partner for this inconvenience. Please advise us should you want to schedule a meeting to further discuss this matter.

Thank you...

I will definitely keep you posted with WPO. Don't even think twice about watching (next year), it's really worth it. Two country representatives per night, with 30 minutes of non-stop fireworks display per country. Sulit! :)

New Yorker Part Deux

Wasn't yesterday's post enough to make you drool and dream of owning at least one of New Yorker's neckpieces? I'm sharing more of their works below :)

This one is a biased-cut sleeveless top with interchangeable neckpieces. Price is about P2,000 for the top and P5,000 up for the neckpiece.

Here's a tighter shot of the necklace :D I heart!

Another version:

Again, a close-up shot of the necklace:

Those who want more can get these brooches, too! The big one is a bracelet.

They also make beaded headbands, prices go from P1,000 up.

For those who do not know of New Yorker PVR, they've been around since the 1950s. If your grandma and your mom love clothes and designer duds, I'm pretty sure they've heard of New Yorker PVR. My mom does! Their first shop was in bustling Escolta or Malate (I'm not too sure which) and they were quite known for their haute couture clothes. They remain true to their style which is classy and vintage-inspired—'50s and '60s mixed with a bit of modern flavor.

For contact details and address of New Yorker PVR, read my next post :D

Werk It!

Statement necklaces are heavensent, as they can take you from day to night. Yes, you might have to spend a little more than the usual for these works of art, but that’s all you’ll ever need for this holiday season.

Pair them with a casual tee and denims, or with your favorite cocktails dress. These versatile investment pieces will surely make you a stand out. They’re quite a no-brainer to put on, too! Just keep everything simple, and let your necklace do the work. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about being seen wearing the same neckpiece. You want your friends to see them more often; showing them the multitude of outfits you can wear them with.

And where can you get these fabulous neckpieces? I'm sharing here my find: New Yorker PVR, a shop that makes one-of-a-kind vintage and vintage-inspired necklaces. Exquisitely handcrafted, these babies are worth every peso. Read on and be amazed with my discovery:

Style Kit: When did you start making neckpieces?
Actually we started off with embellished pieces such as belts, jackets, cocktail dresses and gowns inspired by Russian renaissance meets Marrakesh back in 2007. From there we ventured out into more versatile pieces such as bags, cuffs and now necklaces.

SK: Who was your inspiration?
We were not inspired by just one person but rather by a period in time when dressing up meant putting on special things.

SK: How long does it take to make one? Is one person assigned to make one specific designs or necklace?
Each necklace is handmade by only one person. This is to ensure that each component of the necklace is ALMOST identical looking. Each necklace on the average would take about two-three weeks to make.

SK: How many necklaces of the same design do you make?
Our necklaces are one of a kind because of the limited amount of materials. It is very hard to reproduce a necklace.

SK: What materials do you use?
Vintage cabochons— As we have always said we have a closet full of vintage materials from my grandmother’s treasure trove way back in 1960s. We also use rhinestones, crystals, beads are the materials used to make the necklaces.

They come in boxes that make for great gifts.

Each piece can definitely take you from day to night.

Up close and personal with these babies:

As for the prices, they start at P5,000. But trust me, they're worth every centavo. I couldn't stop looking and holding these neckpieces.

*New Yorker PVR is located at 1004 Arnaiz Avenue, Makati. Telephone number: 844-7753. Call for appointments if you wish to have a custom-made piece done. Open from Tuesday to Saturday. 10 a.m. — 6 p.m.

Go, Ninoy!

It's been quite some time since I've met up with Mico Halili. We go way back... Breakfast show days in Studio 23 ;) He's now a sports commentator for the PBA—I only get to see him on TV (hehe...) and chat with him online (thank goodness for Facebook and YM). Bumped into him here at the Rockwell Bazaar a few weeks back:

This guy is brimming with great business plans; he's been sharing with me a lot of his dreams and goals. One of which is a new shirt brand, OWSF which stands for Oh-We're-So-Filipino. Below is a short feature I wrote that was published in Manila Bulletin:

A project that has been in the works for the past year, Oh-We’re-So-Filipino (OWSF) finally launched its first line of proud-to-be-Pinoy shirts. An imaginary campaign on one of our favorite heroes, Ninoy Aquino, this first batch of tees aims to “challenge current Presidential aspirants to live up to Ninoy’s legendary ideals,” shares the OWSF team.
This retro design is one of their bestsellers.

These high-quality cotton shirts come in cool retro graphic prints that relive the legendary days when Pinoy pride was at its peak, as represented by the late Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. OWSF hopes to instill and reunite us with this love: “After all, the ‘Ninoy for President’ t-shirts are about imagination, aspiration, and inspiration.” The year 2010 represents a hopeful year ahead, with the late hero as a representation of what the future should be—every Filipino full of love and respect for our country. To all the presidential aspirants and to every Pinoy around the globe, may these tees serve as a reminder of what our hero gave up for us.

More shirt designs are available, for both men and women:

Mico shows off one of their latest prints:

*The “Ninoy for President 2010” tees are available at Analog Soul stores (Power Plant mall and Trinoma), and upcoming special bazaars (AAA Bazaar Intercon Nov. 22, St. James Alabang Nov. 27-29, Noel Bazaar A Venue Dec. 5-6 and La Vista Bazaar Dec 12-13). A New Moon to Love

Got to watch the Twilight Series: New Moon last night at Shangri-la Plaza mall, thanks to Wrangler and Rochelle for inviting us :D

Before the movie started, they announced the winner for the "Wildest" photo,
and I have to agree with their choice. Amazing isn't it? :)

I won't say anything about the movie YET. Let me know what you think :D
But I did enjoy it, that's for sure.

Bella's getting prettier, don't you agree?

He's never been my type :o

So, obviously, I'm leaning towards Team Jacob for his looks, his abs!!!
(I could hear loud sighs when he took off his shirt)
and his personality/character. How about you? :D

Oh, I just had to include this post. I looooove Secret Recipe's cakes.
They were the caterer last night :D Yummy!

So, back to my first question. Which team are you for and why?
